Following their founding action earlier this year, The Bronx First held a leadership training and strategy session on May 5 at the Islamic Cultural Center, with 45 leaders from 26 institutions. This included a mix of non-profit leaders, Mosques, Churches, Associations, elders and young people. Together the group built new relationships and reflected on ways to increase their power.

The gathering led to commitments to host 18 small group meetings to find new leaders, better understand people's concerns, and to explore solutions and opportunities for action. The group recognized the importance of taking action to make streets safe, homes affordable, schools and child care centers thrive, and mental health care services available for all.
