Thanks to BUILD's organizing, the Rails to Trails Conservancy secured a $270,000 grant to begin the design phase of a 1.8-mile walking/biking trail in Chinquapin Run Park. The trail will increase greenspace access and active transportation routes for residents of Northeast Baltimore, providing pedestrian and bicyclist connections to Morgan State University, Lake Montebello, and Herring Run Park, as well as other neighborhoods.

To celebrate this win, 180+ faith and community leaders from BUILD, the Northeast Community Organization, NECO (and its coalition of 20 neighborhood orgs), and the Rails to Trails Conservancy came together at a press conference in September, with Morgan State University's Magnificent Marching Machine providing impressive music and dancing.
