There was a great spirit at the DC Power action on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024.

Rev. Edmonds, Rev. Daniels, Mike Gecan, and Coleman Milling have done a commendable job of getting to this point, and there are high hopes for the new emerging DC Team, which boasts immense talent and authentic relationships among its members.

Here’s the bottom line from Sunday:

Seventeen institutions, including 15 religious congregations and two labor unions (HERE Local 25 and ATU Local 689), with 90% African American participation, brought together 286 leaders at DC Power's founding internal action at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. They joined IAF/Metro IAF.

During the internal action, DC Power leaders and institutions:

  1. committed to a significant inaugural public action in late Fall 2024 to unveil their action agenda developed from trainings, listening sessions, and core team building over the next 4-5 months
  2. delivered their first $41,000 installment payments toward their 1% dues pledge.

Another 20 institutions are discerning DC Power membership, and leaders from many of these institutions attended and will make their public commitments in the Fall.
